American Libraries staff made a swift and positive response to the oversight of omitting AASL and school library bloggers from its March blogging article. To avoid having school library media specialists and our projects ideas overlooked in the future, I urge you to volunteer to serve on the American Libraries Advisory Committee. Being “at the table” with editor in chief Leonard Kniffel, will give you an opportunity to present ideas directly on representing the school library community in ALA’s membership journal. As with all ALA committees, members are appointed by the incoming ALA president. Fill out a volunteer form, and be persistent. Additionally, ask AASL’s president-elect to forward your name and choice of appointment to the ALA president incoming president. This is another case of where “being there” does make a difference.
