How do school librarians empower students to think, create, share and grow? As an 2013 Emerging Leader, I had the opportunity to work with Maegan Heindel, Amy Jo Southworth, and Stephanie Thomas (Team A) to answer this crucial question by developing a L4L (Learning4Life) brochure and PowerPoint for administrators. We wanted to create resources that could be used at the building and central office level. We connected the four strands of the standards (think, create, share, grow) to the Common Core Standards, listed specific examples of how we support the standards, and provided quotes from recent studies.
Even though we all came from different parts of the country, we realized the importance of having administrative support in the schools and how it affects our library program. Check out the new resources (to be added shortly)on the Learning4Life Resources page of AASL.
