To quote a recent post from AASL….”The newest publication from AASL, “Developing Collections to Empower Learners,” examines collection development in the context of today’s shift toward digital resources, while emphasizing the foundational beliefs of the school library profession. Written by AASL member Sue Kimmel, the book provides practical advice about needs assessment, planning, selection, acquisitions, evaluation and continuous improvement for collections to support AASL’s “Standards for the 21st-Century Learner.” ”

Why is this in the Tuesday Tech Tips?  Because as we shift even further towards digital resources, we need a good resource to support our decisions.  We need the technology to support these resources.  Digital resources should be a predominate part of our collection to help our students be 21st century learners.

The book is available in print and e-book versions and can be found in the ALA Online Store.
